Joanna Thomas Hodgin

Joanna was born in Granger, Missouri on August 29, 1868 and was the second child of 12 children. In 1872, the family left Missouri by wagon train to Prairie View, Kansas. Joanna’s future husband to be, John Carlton Hodgin, had also moved to Prairie View from Missouri as a young boy.

John worked a short stint in Eastonville, Colorado as a timber cutter and then came back to Prairie View where later they were married. They had seven children, Edna, Floyd, Lloyd, Clifford, Nora, Everett and Clarice.

Joanna and John eventually moved back to Colorado where they purchased 680 acres near Table Rock and raised chickens and cattle. The children attended Elton School. Today a portion of that ranch is still owned by descendants of the Hodgin family
