Malrie Taylor
J.B. Taylor, grandfather of Malrie, homesteaded in Douglas County east
of Castle Rock in 1898 and, subsequently, the family lived on several
ranches throughout the county.
Malrie was born March 3, 1892 in Douglas County and in 1922; he
married Carrie Ingalls, daughter of Fred Ingalls and Hattie Gray
Ingalls of Cherry Valley.
Malrie and Carrie, sometimes referred to as Lucy, moved to
Greenland
in 1924 to operate a garage with Carrie’s father Fred Ingalls. Carrie
was postmistress in Greenland for 28 years, retiring in 1955. Carrie
and Malrie had a poultry business in 1930 and a restaurant, which
adjoined the gas station. The gas station closed in the mid – 1930s.
The Taylor’s continued to live in Greenland until a short time before
they passed away.
